Exhumed has been playing quality death metal since the early ‘90s but sadly I only discovered them a few short years ago when I found out about the ‘Death To All Tours’ started listening to the Death tribute band Gruesome.
Matt Harvey has been providing vocals and guitars for the group nearly since its inception and he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite artists in the death metal scene.
Exhumed has released nine albums so far with number ten, Red Asphalt, due to hit the streets February 20th via Relapse Records. A new music video for the song, “Shovelhead”, has been released to hype the effort.
“Shovelhead” is an animated effort with lots of replay ability. A zombie biker is out for blood. Tracking down a long-haired motorcycle enthusiast for reasons unknown. The zombie is relentless, whipping the human biker with a metal chain, intent on drawing blood.

The members of the band arrive at the salvage plant the ghoul now resides in, and the group rides out together, perhaps looking for more fresh blood.
The video is comical, the derelict in the beginning of the offering who gets run over by the biker trying to reach a six pack of beer is awesome.
The expression of the dog towards the end of the efforts who wants nothing to do with ghouls or zombie’s is classic.
I’ve seen this video a half-dozen times already and I always seem to notice something new.
The music and lyrics are just what you expect from a band called Exhumed. A cartoonish overture reminiscent of Road Rash video game that came out in the early ‘90s.
Check out Exhumed’s new music video for “Shovelhead” and this animated rage take over you! \m/
