A brutal combination of both sight and sound. Nobody really knows what goes on behind the darkened glass. Like a diabolical version of the science fiction series, Andor, the torturous visuals have a morbidly apocalyptic feel.
I’ve been a fan of the extreme metal act Death for a long time. Back in 1987, all we really listened to was Slayer and Death. I even saw Death open for Dark Angel (Leave Scars) on the Leprosy tour. Rick Rozz drew a pentagram on my ticket stub. The abrupt conclusion of this band left us all feeling fragmented. The unexpected loss, the passing of Chuck Schuldiner, left this final act unfulfilled. An emptiness which many believed would never be replenished.
The band Gruesome has met those needs. Born in 2014, the band Gruesome has been undeniably asserted as a tribute to Death’s legacy.
Gruesome was unveiled out of guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey (Exhumed) and drummer Gus Ríos‘ (Ex-Malevolent Creation) involvement with the “Death to All” tours.
A benefit excursion for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a nonprofit charity that maintains financial funds that professional musicians can draw from when they’re in need of medical or financial care. These specific concerts consisted of musicians who at one time or another had been members of the famed band.
The efforts thus far have been a respectful homage to the first few Death albums: Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy & Spiritual Healing. Throw in artwork by legendary artist, Ed Repka, who ironically also provided the artwork for the first three Death releases, and you have a formula that will undoubtedly breed success.
So far Gruesome has released 3 albums and 2 EPs with a new full length offering, Silent Echoes, due to hit the streets on June 6th via Relapse Records.
A new music video, “A Darkened Window” has been released to hype this effort.

The implied sequence of ingesting insects is truly frightening. Mind control at this level has never seemed so barbarous. Truth and reality hell bent on becoming an uncivilized blur.
Check out Gruesome’s “A Darkened Window” and let these morbid visions brainwash you! \m/
