Alive and Screamin’ reminds me a lot of the Scorpions World Wide Live (1985), a band in their prime seemingly hitting on all cylinders, playing all their well-known hits.
Krokus is a hard rock/heavy metal band from Switzerland formed in 1975.
The name Krokus is the German word for a flower (Crocus), commonly found throughout Europe.
After attending an AC/DC concert in the late 1970s, Krokus changed their musical direction, adopting a hard rock / heavy metal sound. That style was the dominate force of the band until the mid ‘80s when the group to a ‘radio friendly glam metal’ delivery.
1983’s Headhunter was the band’s first break-through album, featuring the songs “Headhunter”, “Eat The Rich”, a Bachman–Turner Overdrive cover “Stayed Awake All Night” and “Screaming In The Night”, a hit power ballad which saw heavy rotation on MTV. The record was certified gold in the United States.
Krokus’s follow-up album, The Blitz, was released in 1984. This record featured two hits “Midnite Maniac” and a glam metal cover of Sweet‘s 1973 hit “The Ballroom Blitz”.
These timeless albums (Headhunter & The Blitz) seemingly come to life with Krokus’s first live album, Alive and Screamin’, which was recorded during their tour of the United States and Canada back in 1986.

The production quality in sound and the set list is simply awesome. Highlight tracks for me are: “Long Stick Goes Boom”, “Midnite Maniac”, “Eat the Rich”, “Screaming in the Night” and “Stayed Awake All Night”.
In 2018, Krokus announced their retirement and plans to tour the world one final time. The band announced a final North America tour starting in 2020, but these dates were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band resumed touring in 2024 in anticipation of their 50th anniversary in 2025 but haven’t yet announced any North American tour dates.
I am hopeful Krokus makes it to the United States one final time but until that happens, Alive and Screamin’ will fill my need to experience this essential metal act live. \m/
