I honestly wasn’t sure what would happen to Death Angel when I heard vocalist Mark Osegueda was joining Kerry King’s (Slayer – guitarist) new band. We’ve all heard the double-duty line before and it would have been a shame to lose a thrash metal band as prolific as Death Angel, a group that’s been around in some form since 1982!
Fortunately, that’s not the case. A pair of singles, “Wrath (Bring Fire)” and “Cult Of The Used” have been released this year hinting towards new music.
Death Angel is also hitting the road, playing the thrash metal classic Act III (1990) in its entirety!
The music video for “Cult Of The Used” is a malicious feast for both the eyes and ears. An animated extravaganza set to some ‘80s style thrash is just what the voodoo doctor ordered. Like a bizarre episode of Aeon Flux.
This animated video is framed within a comic book. The blind are unwilling or unable to see the hideous truth. A blatantly obvious lie sits before them. We plop our asses in front of television screens which force feed lies that we consume like fast food.
The mental message of this video is hard hitting with a complexity that demands repeat viewings. The images of blindfolded families are truly frightening, seemingly implying that all age groups are susceptible to the disinformation we are all subjected to.
Death Angel is back in the spotlight with “Cult Of The Used”. Don’t be blind to new music. Check out this new video and let the cult of Death Angel put some sight into you! \m/
