If the “Burning Heart” music video is any indication of what Dragonforce can and will sound like going forward, I think metal fans are in for a real treat.
Alissa White-Gluz is seemingly everywhere. Fresh off her new band and music video for Blue Medusa’s “Checkmate”, we now know that she has joined the British power metal band Dragonforce. Serving as a dual vocalist alongside Marc Hudson, who has fronted the band since 2011.
Dragonforce, active since 1999, has often been referred to as one of the ‘Big Four’ of power metal. Included with brethren acts Helloween, Sabaton and Blind Guardian, the group has been wowing audiences with their warp speed dual guitar attack. I believe this unique guitar prowess fits great with Alissa White-Gluz’s vocal abilities and that pairing is evident in the “Buring Heart” music video. Released last year, the offering is a re-release of their single from the Warp Speed Warriors record first unveiled back in 2024.
“Burning Heart” is a both a feast for the ears and eyes. Largely a performance offering, the costumes and back drops are just the kind of stage Alissa seems to thrive in. Clocking in at six minutes there’s enough metal in this video to satisfy any progressive or speed metal fan.
The duet style vocals with Marc Hudson seem completely natural, it’s hard to believe these two haven’t worked together prior to this offering. I’m fully aware the deep growls are what Alissa is famous for, but her clean vocals on this track are simply incredible.
She has become iconic. Representing strength, creativity and versatility. Alissa White-Gluz has shattered all current musical boundaries and has set a new standard for women in the genre of extreme music.
If the “Burning Heart” music video is any indication of what Dragonforce can and will sound like going forward, I think metal fans are in for a real treat. With some current tour dates scheduled for later this year, the band has a chance of fine-tuning their game prior to hitting the studio.
Dragonforce hasn’t released any new material since Speed Warriors (2024) so hopefully we’ll hear something with this re-vamped line-up very soon. Until that time check out the “Burning Heart” music video and let’s imagine what Dragonforce can truly be. \m/
