Cattle Decapitation is a death grind / technical death metal band from in San Diego, California, established in 1996.
I’ve always viewed them as one of the few groups whose lyrical message hits as hard as their music. The concepts explored by the band include animal rights, veganism, humanity’s extinction and misanthropy. Although these concepts have evolved over the years, it’s clear Cattle Decapitation views society as a menace, a destructively parasitic plague, hell bent on wiping out the earth for its own selfish needs.
The band released their eighth album, Terrasite, back in 2023. Just like its predecessor, Death Atlas, the release is filled with a hatred for the masses, an overflowing anger directed towards humanity.
The concept album citing the rebirth of mankind as the Terrasite, a creature who rose again to finish what we’ve started, the final destruction of earth. This record perpetuates the sentiment that we deserve what’s coming, we’ve brought this demise upon ourselves.
The “Dead End Residents” music video marks the final tour cycle of Terrasite. The band plans to embark on a short hiatus in order to finish writing their next album. They hope to hit the studio some in January 2027.
